Radiology is a specialization in medicine, it takes a large degree of knowledge and skill to operate radiology equipment and evaluate the results. Radiologists should be able to figure out results to determine the position, type and importance of a vast amount of medical issues.

The practice is used to obtain an understanding of any medical issues even if an expert has examined a patient. Radiology results can recognize issues ranging from broken bones to tumours and other medial irregularities.

Most facilities employ a radiologist for on site assistance in consulting on a diagnosis and those who do not have access to these skills are required to send the image for outside interpretation and await the results.

A radiologist has a duty to obtain the finest possible images and review them expertly as radiology plays a key role in diagnosing a patient. A blunder at this stage could lead to misdiagnosis of a patients conditions or overlooking something serious.

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

Though it is a true statement that nurses are in high demand in today’s marketplace, there are also a lot of nurses looking for employment. When you send your resume for a nursing position you are giving the HR person a first impression that you won’t be able to change. If it is sloppy and unprofessional then they might assume the same is true of you and will not contact you.

Be certain to set your resume up so that it flows from one section to another. Your contact information should, naturally, be the first item that the hiring manager reads. Below this should be a brief summary of your skills that will intrigue the employer.

Right after your summary section, you should include a very comprehensive list of your experience in the nursing field. You should include all of the important information such as your previous employers and the types of establishments.

After you have told about your prior experience you should go in to more detail about your abilities. You might consider making a list that features any certification that you have received or any area that you specialize in.

Make sure to include a segment in your resume that tells of the important contributions that you have made in previous positions.

The next paragraph in your resume should include details about your academic accomplishments. If you received any certifications, make certain to put it in this section. Put the final touches on your resume by doing a careful check for any typo or grammar mistake that you may have made. Use plain white or cream colored resume paper to print your resume. The Facts About Psychiatry Jobs, How Long It Takes To Be Educated And The Dedication Required

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

Choosing to go into the field of mental health requires someone that is committed, dedicated and most of all has an open mind. When thinking of psychiatry jobs many confuse the field of psychology with a psychiatrist. Though both specialize in the human mind there are differences in the two fields.

Both careers have a focus of concern with the human brain and human behavior. A psychologist can earn a PhD or a PsyD and also be a doctor. A psychiatrist is a medical doctor, they will have to complete medical school and specialize in psychiatry. Psychologists may lean more towards diagnosing a situation as the result of social means whereas a psychiatrist will have a medical view. Both can have the same viewpoints and both can treat patients with similar concepts and beliefs. It will vary among the individual giving the diagnosis and the client.

A child psychiatry specialization is when their clients are children. The families are often included in the treatment, rather it be as a result of a child being subjected to a traumatic occurrence or a mental health behavior problem. When the specialization is children it is important to realize that there will be unpleasant situations with family members, it is not always only the child who is being seen.

To have a specialization in sports psychology means the clients are somehow involved in sports, they could be players or coaches. Many of the clients seen in this field are seeking assistance with many different areas relating to their involvement with a sport. For example, it could a client that is having difficulties controlling a temper while playing or they could be having difficulties handling peer pressure. There are many different situations for the client to seek professional help.

The forensic field is not always silence of lambs type clients. It does normally involve working with someone in a criminal situation. The individual could be claiming an insanity plea and your job would be to determine if they were insane at the time of the crime or you could be called as a professional witness specializing in a particular field of crime. It will always be of a different nature. Criminal psychology is more often trying to determine the behavior aspect and reason for the criminal behavior.

To be a psychiatrist requires a lot of education. Starting with a bachelors degree in science, another four years of medical school, an internship followed by residency. After all of the years of school is a state board examination which they must pass in order to be licensed. They are licensed to practice medicine.

As medical doctors they do have the authority to prescribe medications. A doctor of psychology cannot prescribe medications. Many people think a psychiatrist simply writes a prescription without having concerns about treating the patient. This is far from the truth. They do prescribe medications; however, they are concerned with treatment. Not all patients have the same symptoms, if a patient is diagnosed with bipolar disorder, this does not mean their symptoms are exactly like another patients. A psychiatrist will differentiate the symptoms and treat each.

To simply say you are interested in psychiatry jobs as a form of work is not a simple process. It takes many years to work as a psychiatrist. The individual who chooses this path for a career has to be extremely dedicated to the involvement in this form of work.

Whale Trainer Killed In Killer Whale Attack At SeaWorld Orlando

Saturday, March 6th, 2010

Tilikum, a 5 tonne orca has killed it’s trainer by dragging her into the pool and thrashing her underwater. The event occurred at SeaWorld Orlando as the trainer, Dawn Brancheau was chatting with visitors after a show. Onlookers said the whale “thrashed her all around” and pulled her under the water.

Police state that Brancheau “slipped and fell” into the tank but over 50 witnesses confirm that the event was no accident, the trainer was reportedly stroking the whale before it swam away and darted back grabbing the trainer out of the air in its mouth before shaking her violently underwater.

Brancheau, a 40 year old who was married with no children, was an experienced whale trainer and had previously commented on the dangers involved with her job, “You can’t put yourself in the water unless you trust them and they trust you.” After a visit to SeaWorld at the age of nine, Brancheau had dreamt of working as a whale trainer.

30 year old Tilikum, whose name means ‘fierce’ in the native Indian Chinook language, had reportedly acted abnormally and did not react to directions in an earlier show. Trainers had previously been forbidden from swimming with the animal because of its variable temper. Questions are being raised as to whether the 5 tonne killer whale should be allowed to continue working near humans as it is the third fatality he has been linked to.

In 1991 Tilly was blamed as one of three whales behind the death of a trainer at Sealand of the Pacific in Victoria, British Columbia and in 1999 the body of Daniel Dukes was found in Tilly’s tank after policed had determined the man sneaked into the compound at night.

General Manager of SeaWorld, Dan Brown, had to hold back tears while he stated that the company’s safety procedures will be an enquiry into the safety procedures while the park remains closed and shows at their other shows are cancelled.
