Is Sole The Suitable Elliptical Trainer For Serious Exercisers?

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

With markets flooded with so many different brands and models, you’ll be at your wits end to decide the right elliptical machine for your use. You may be a little unsure about what you truly need. Depending on what you want out of your trainer this may be different for everyone. Some may like to have a simple machine that they can use a couple of times during the month, but others would like to possess a dependable machine to bear heavy regular workouts. Probably, a majority falls somewhere in the middle.

It would be helpful to define your budget before you go hunting for a machine. You may even need to save for a few months and start to do some research before you head to the home fitness stores. It’s not a good idea to buy this on impulse, this is a big piece of equipment and it won’t be cheap like a set of dumbbells. You may be aware that a reasonably good elliptical machine costs in the neighborhood of a thousand dollars. You can pay a lot more or a lot less but this will get you a good machine that should last a long time.

One of the best brands you can find in this price range is the Sole Elliptical. Sole makes a few different models so depending on how much you want to spend and the features you like best you can choose fits your specific needs. Sole Elliptical is listed as one of the best-buys because of the quality it delivers at affordable prices.

The quality of a machine is to a great extent determined by the warranty that a manufacturer has to offer. Even some of the more expensive brands fail to offer the kind of warranty provided by Sole. An above average warranty indicates the manufacturer is confident of its quality and would stand by its product. Shorter warranty, on the other hand makes you feel skeptical about the product and the services that you can expect from the company. If it’s just an average warranty, you are led to gain from the experiences of other users. Reading reviews and talking to friends, family and co-workers is a great way to get this.

For an average user Sole is the ideal machine. If you are a serious athlete rigorously working out daily you may want more of a gym quality machine, but if you don’t have the budget for that a Sole Elliptical is the next best thing.

Paintball – Why Paintball Is Awesome

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

Paintball is awesome. It is a great sport to play and I love to play it. Without a doubt it is my favorite extreme sport, and I always look forward to playing it every chance I get. Here I will tell you why I think paintball is awesome.

After a game of paintball, I notice that the players always get together and talk excitedly about the last game. It doesn’t matter where I am playing at. No matter where I go, after each game players love to talk about what happened in the last game. I know I want to talk about it because it was so blasted exciting for me that I want to talk and talk about it. I love playing paintball because it is a very exciting sport to play!

You could play thousands of games but every game will be different from the next. Each game you play, something different will happen, so each game is as exciting as the first one. For a change you can play at a different field with a different layout and the game changes again.

Are you more of a sniper that likes to stay hidden, or would you rather take the battle head on and send your paintballs flying at your opponents as much as possible. There’s a style for everyone.

Knights have their swords, NASCAR racers have their cars, and paintball players have their markers. In the same way that NASCAR racers customize and deck out their cars, paintballers customize their markers. Your marker is your best friend during each game, and you can turn your marker into one that suits you and your playing style. The options and possibilities are nearly endless. There are tons of accessories and add-ons that you can use to turn your marker into your dream.

There are tons more reasons why paintball rules, but these are my top ones. I love the fact that you get to use a paintball marker that you can customize so that it is uniquely yours, each game is different from the rest so you never know what is going to happen, and it is extremely exciting to play. If you haven’t tried it yet, I recommend that you do!

All Terrain Skateboarding – Why You Need To Try It!

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

This article could go on for ages with hundreds of reasons why I think you should hop on an all terrain skateboard (also known as mountain boarding or dirtboarding) right now and give it a go, but for the sake of time I’ll tell you what I think are the best reasons why you should try all terrain skateboarding.

Are you tired of being bored? Many of us have hobbies, play sports, or take part in recreational activities so that we can have something fun to do in our free time. If you are having a severe shortage of excitement and adrenaline in your life, all terrain skateboarding can definitely make up the difference.

Exercise is good for you, and most of us do not get enough of it. If you want to get fun exercise this sport is full of it.

Many of us will agree that getting fresh air is nice and makes us feel better. This extreme sport was born outdoors and excels outdoors. You get to enjoy the nice weather, explore nature while searching for new riding spots, and breathe in fresh air all while having fun.

Feel like you want something that challenges you in your life? All terrain skateboarding can be as challenging as you want it to be. There is always a bigger hill, a harder trick, or an event that you can try to win.

I always feel better after an outing of all terrain skateboarding. It doesn’t matter if I fell and got a couple of bumps and bruises, the enjoyment I receive from it makes it all worthwhile to go again next weekend.

That completes my best reasons for why you should get out there and give dirtboarding a try. However, you’ll never know what dirtboarding is truly like unless you try it for yourself, so get out there and try it!

Paintball – The Problems With Using CO2 With Your Marker

Saturday, January 16th, 2010

This article will tell you a little about CO2 and the problems that can happen when using it. While it is inferior to compressed air, it is more affordable. Compressed air is much more dependable.

Many paintball players are fine staying with CO2. It works well enough if their gun that they don’t have a good enough reason to upgrade. For those of you that want to best they can get though, you should consider upgrading.

In the winter months, or in colder temperatures, you can experience several problems while using CO2. Your gun may start to sputter, choke, get freezing cold, or it may freeze up. Your tank may also get so cold that you can’t touch it.

Most of these problems generally occur when you are shooting fast. When you are unloading paint at a target, you especially don’t want anything to affect your accuracy.

Inside of your tank it exists as both a gas and a liquid. The gas works best for powering your gun, while the liquid causes the problems. As the gas is shot, the liquid will turn into gas. When you are shooting fast, the liquid will have a hard time changing to gas fast enough, especially in cold weather that it will go into your gun.

You don’t want liquid to enter your gun because it causes horrible consistency. One shot may travel a normal distance, but when you shoot fast, each shot after it may travel shorter and shorter.

As you can see, when you are trying to hit a target, inconsistent velocity can make it extremely difficult to ht a target. There are times when you need to shoot fast, and when doing so, it makes it difficult to effectively shoot fast when each shot goes shorter.

So what can you use that won’t give you problems with consistency? Compressed air (also called HPA) is a superior alternative. It works much better in paintball guns, is more consistent and isn’t hindered by cold weather.

Golf Injuries Ignored

Thursday, December 24th, 2009

After having performed thousands of sports physicals over the years, I have seen an ever increasing trend in poor posture. Often, the posture is compromised before a sport is undertaken, and frequently the posture is affected by repetitive motions of a particular sport.

You can easily perform an assessment of your own posture by having someone observe you from your back (six feet directly behind you). Does one shoulder look higher than the other? Does one hip look higher? Check to see if your feet are equal, is one flaring out more than the other? The knees should be in alignment as well, facing the same direction. Your head should be equally balanced, not tilting to one side. If some differences are noticed, you may have a biomechanical problem that is affecting your sports performance.

I like to use the analogy of your car being out of alignment. If your automobile is misaligned, your tires will wear out unevenly, you will not get proper fuel efficiency and your car will not run like it should. The same principle applies to your body. Do you think that your body would be more or less prone to injury if you were a runner and you had one hip higher than the other, which caused one leg to be an inch shorter? Running day-after-day, mile-after-mile?

The body will respond to the misalignment by its innate ability to compensate for its changes and will adapt to the differences. However, there is an insidious process, disease sets in, and so the person may not have symptoms for many years before they experience other health problems. One of the most common conditions that occur is degenerate osteoarthritis of the spine and pelvis. The bottom line is, if your biomechanics were in ideal working order, you would be a better, more efficient runner.

One of the most common complaints I hear when a new patient visits the office is “I can golf fine if I take two anti-inflammatories or pain pills before I play golf, but after I’m done I have more pain”. Do you see the point that I am trying to make? If our bodies are giving us a symptom or it has restricted our range of motion in some way, it is trying to tell us that something is wrong. Like your car oil light coming on to warn you that the oil is low, do you switch of the light?

We often treat our cars better than our bodies. We can thank the pharmaceutical companies and medical establishment for constant bombardment in radio, print, and television advertisements. Billions of dollars are spent yearly to convince you to take that little miracle pill or potion for instant relief. They advise us to get rid of that symptom quick, ignore what the cause is. We need to take responsibility for our own health. Listen to your body; no one knows it better than yourself.

A pre-exercise warm up is imperative, but often disregarded. Most people want to “get right into their workout” and therefore begin their exercise regime before their muscles and ligaments have warmed up sufficiently. Without this precaution, one pre-exposes themselves to abnormal strain on their ligaments and muscular system.

It is even more urgent that we take a serious anaylysis at this with the proposed changes in our Healthcare System. The quality will not be as good. We should open our eyes, and look ahead. Say to yourself, what if 10, 20 or 30 years from now I have (fill in the blank). How could I have prevented that, should I have done this or that? The time for action is now!
