When you first become eligible for Medicare, choosing a medicare supplement can be scary. However, there is one A-rated carrier that you can’t wrong with.Blue Cross and Blue Shield Medicare Supplements provide excellent coverage, affordable rates, and peace of mind from a name you can trust. One of the most recognizable brands in the medicare insurance field, Blue Cross Blue Shield carries Medicare supplement policies on hundreds of thousands of people in Texas and across the U.S. Blue Cross has been insuring people’s health for over eighty years.

Traditional Medicare wasn’t designed to pay all of your health care charges. This is exactly why Medicare supplement insurance policies are available to you. Supplement policies by Blue Cross Blue Shield will cover most of the expenses Medicare does not cover, which includes many of the hospital expenses under Medicare Part A, as well as outpatient medical costs under Medicare Part B. There are a number of logical reasons why Medicare beneficiaries go for these plans more than any others:

Freedom to choose your own physician and preferred hospitals with no restrictions

By having a Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas medicare supplement plan, you won’t ever need to get any kind of referrals. You can go to any medical professional who will take Medicare insurance. For those who travel frequently, you will have the peace of mind that comes with knowing that your personal policy Identification card will undoubtedly be quickly recognized by any medical professional as well as important hospital in our nation. You can depend on your insurance policy while at home and while you are traveling.

Electronic Filing of your Health Claims

Blue Cross Blue Shied files all of the paperwork relating to your claims for you. In most cases, your physician files with Medicare, and Medicare informs Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas about your claim. After they have paid for the claim, BCBS will send you an explanation of benefits that will illustrate precisely what was covered under Medicare and where Blue Cross Blue Shield stepped in to pay other covered expenses under your chosen supplement insurance plan.

100% Guaranteed Renewable Policy

Lots of Medicare beneficiaries worry that their insurance carrier may terminate or even drop their insurance plan because of health situations. It’s not the truth. If you pay your monthly premiums when they’re due, your insurance coverage won’t be ended as a result of any kind of health condition, regardless of how serious. Even though premium costs may adjust as time passes or if you change your main place of dwelling, you have the security of knowing that the rate increases authorized by the Texas Dept . of Insurance will apply to everyone within a specific classification of coverage. You will not ever exclusively have any rate increases based upon health.

Pick Your Own Billing Option

Whether you prefer the convenience of a regular monthly bank draft or perhaps would rather receive an invoice, BCBS will definitely accommodate you. You can choose to get invoiced on a monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, or once-a-year schedule. Many individuals prefer to save time, postage and standard bank fees by using the BCBSTX Easy Automated Payment Option. Specifically if you travel frequently, having this kind of payment mode available could save you from worrying about skipping any premiums while you’re traveling.

Stable coverage is currently more vital than in the past. Today and in the years ahead, you can depend on your Blue Cross and Blue Shield Medigap insurance coverage to help you pay for the charges Original medicare leaves you to pay. Whenever Medicare raises your portion of the charges, your BCBSTX insurance plan will always adjust to help you cover those increases. Offering stability together with great value, these medicare supplemental health insurance plans are difficult to beat.

Finding a Medigap Insurance Agent – Ways to Locate A Experienced Broker

Friday, January 13th, 2012

Medicare is unbelievably confusing to a new beneficiary. Stacks of mail arrive daily from both the goverment and from insurance carriers hawking their medicare supplement or medicare advantage plans, making it difficult to figure out which plan is best suited for you. Your Part B open enrollment window only last six months from its effective date, so many people feel pressured to make a choice rather fast, which can have terrible consequences if your doctor or preferred hospital does not accept your chosen plan. Independent insurance agents specializing in Medicare supplements can help you sort through the clutter so that you fully understand the insurance plan that you ultimately choose.

How do you select a credible person to help you who will care about your best interests? Here are a few tips for scouting out an ethical, honest, knowledgeable agent.

First, beware mail that you receive directly from an insurance carrier. If you call the number listed on these solicitations, you will reach a representative who offers only that one carrier’s policies. Does this person have your best interest in mind? Probably not, since he only earns his living if he can convince you that his product is better than the others. Instead, you want a broker that represents numerous different insurance carriers so that they are not biased when explaining your options, and won’t try to direct you to any product that doesn’t fit your needs or give you access to your physicians.

Second, look for an agent who specializes in Medicare-related insurance products. The world of insurance is vast – there are agents who sell group health insurance, individual health plans, cancer plans, disability, life insurance, etc. Medicare products, however, are complex and require considerable time on the agent’s part to be certified to offer these products. If an agent tries to sell too many different kinds of insurance, chances are he hasn’t dedicated the necessary amount of hours to really know all the ins and outs of Medicare. In other words, a jack of all trades is the master of none.

Third, try to spot the signs that demonstrate experience. Does the agent have an actual website with an email at that website’s domain, or does his business card say that you can reach him at joeinsuranceagent@yahoo.com? Does he have an office location where you can walk in the front door if there’s a problem with a claim? An agent’s office is a great neutral zone where you can obtain the information you need and leave when you want to if you’d like to think about the information before choosing. In today’s day and age, you don’t want a stranger asking to come inside your home to “sell” you on an insurance policy because that agent doesn’t have an office. Meeting with this person in your home puts considerable pressure on you to “buy” something.

Last but not least, find out if the agent works alone, because this may be an indicator that the agent is rather new to the industry. Veteran agents with long experience will most likely have staff members that they have hired to help them manage their client base. These agents want to make sure that if you call with a issue when the agent is in a meeting, there is someone else on hand to answer your questions. It’s advisable to find an agency with roots – one that has several knowledgeable employees answering incoming calls and questions during normal working hours.

By using these tips in your search for the right agent, you can definitely find a credible, established agent who has no reason to push you into quick decisions. Expert agents like these will be more concerned with whether you fully understand everything you are being shown, and that eventually you will be able to use this knowledge to make your own decision on which policy is right for you. In doing so, the agent knows that he or she can be your agent not just today, but for many years to come.

Overall, look for an agent or broker who has long-time experience in the Medicare insurance field and is appointed to sell various different Medicare-related insurance plans. Make sure the agent or agency offers you a true office location or suite where other staff members are available at least five days a week to take your calls and respond to your inquiries. Ask the agent if you can hold your initial appointment either at the agent’s office or by phone (whichever your prefer) instead of at your home. Last but not least, don’t hesitate to ask for references. Well-established agencies have many happy clients who can tell you how well their needs were met when they themselves were shopping for a medicare supplement.

If you or a friend needs an experienced Medigap insurance agent, be certain to spend time reading the wealth of great information compiled by the expert team at Boomer Benefits.

Home Air Cleaners – Ways Having One Effects The Elderly

Sunday, September 25th, 2011

If you are a senior citizen, and tend to be a little focused on your health, there are a number of steps that you can take to keep as healthy as possible. Everybody knows that when people age, their health starts to decline. Like individuals of all age groups, the elderly have to maintain a healthy diet and an exercise regimen, but another effective yet simple step would be to acquire an air purifier. An air purifier detoxifies the household air and removes the impurities which can impact a person’s health.

These devices work with electric power, and what they do is take out and sometimes wipe out the unhealthy particles in the air. It can be good for everyone, but specifically for older people, to breathe clean air. Elderly people have a tendency of getting sick more frequently, and even developing complications, such as colds, or the flu. Purifying the air of disease-causing impurities would decrease the occurrence of ill health. Everyone could reap some benefits from an air purifier, but before purchasing one, ask your healthcare provider for some input. Despite the fact that they are likely not specialists in air purifiers, they should be able to give you as much information as you need.

The home air purifiers they recommend could, as an example, not only remove bacteria from the air but also kill them, and that’s useful to know. Before you purchase you need to ensure that you have selected the one best for your circumstances. It can be particularly crucial to get the right one if you are an allergy sufferer. You might not be a senior citizen, but if you are looking into buying one for, say your own mom and dad, who are senior citizens, then you need to do the research. A few of the important details to bear in mind are the cost of the air purifiers, the quality you need, the sizes of the rooms, and whether they fit into a budget.

Healthcare providers should be able to provide beneficial advice, so don’t forget to talk to them. Being a senior citizen you can acquire discounts at most places, so remember that when you are looking for your air purifier. You could discover where to get the best price for the product you’ve decided on by comparing prices online. There are a few places you should look, such as electronic stores and department stores, and do give home improvement stores a look-in as well. You will find a place that has the air purifier that will clean your house just right. Do acquire an air purifier, in spite of whether you have a discount or not. Perhaps having to pay full price, you’ll locate the product worth the price.

Rendering the years remaining to them less stressful can be something all of us want for our aged family and friends, and we can help by letting them breathe clean air. It will possibly make it easier for anyone who goes for a visit. The type of air purifier needed will change depending on the house or apartment.

Early Signs or symptoms of Arthritis

Tuesday, March 1st, 2011

Arthritis is not only one thing that affects the elderly. While it is accurate that a lot of people will develop arthritis as they get older, it is also true that plenty of younger people are afflicted with it as well. Many people get arthritis after splitting a bone. Some individuals have a genetic predisposition with regard to early onset arthritis. It is easier for you to pick out a good course of treatment if you learn to recognize the early symptoms. This lets you retain a full range of motion for longer. If you allow early onset arthritis to take hold, it will likely be a lot harder for you to stay healthy and fit. Here are a few things to look for.

Joint ache is probably the biggest indicators of arthritis. While joint pain is a sign of lots of things, one of the most clear causes for it is arthritis. If the soreness in your joints worsens with weather conditions (most notably moisture in the air or dropped temperatures) or only comes on when you have a fever it is more likely an indicator of the early stages of arthritis. Ask your doctor to take some X-Rays of your most painful joints so that you can see if there are any other reasons for it besides arthritis. Do not just take a couple of painkillers and hope that it dies out on its own.

One symptom of early onset arthritis that most men and women find distressing is losing the capability to move your joints regularly. Everybody deals with stiffness from time to time. Our joints become stiff, for instance, when we catch a cold or our muscles are tense. If the tightness doesn’t disappear once you have cleared up your health problems, you need to see a doctor. Do not think that stretching will make it go away. You may possibly end up inadvertently ripping your muscles and making things worse for yourself. A doctor can perform some muscle tests and make it easier to figure out if arthritis is the culprit behind your inability to move properly.

Do your joints seem warm? Speak to your doctor. Warm joints are an indicator of one’s body delivering extra blood to someplace that needs to be fixed (typically it is a problem you can’t see). If you discover that your joints are warm for no reason, call your doctor straightaway. While it could be arthritis, it could possibly also be an indicator of something more evere. The only way to find out for sure is if you speak to your doctor and run some tests.

Arthritis does not end up being a bad diagnosis. There are wide ranging improvements built in this field every day. The point is, if you catch it in the early stages of the disease, there are lots of treatments and medications that you can use to reduce the speed of the disease’s advancement. Copper bracelets and pain aren’t your only alternatives any more. There are actually a lot of new developments that allow people to keep their range of motion for a long time. Try to stay positive. There are lots of individuals who suffer from arthritis who have completely normal lives.

Anti-aging Skin Care for Free

Sunday, December 12th, 2010

As I mentioned in previous articles, on my website highlighted below, you will get the real deal about Dermology skin care, first hand from someone born right smack dab in the middle of the baby boomer years, me. I am almost 60 years old, a wife and mother and have beautiful skin. That is now I have beautiful skin since I use Dermology.

I grew up pretty much like you I imagine. I started my beauty regime at a very early age under the tutelage of my Mom and washed my face every morning and every night with good old soap and water. When I became close to my teen years, I was worried that I might get acne or a pimple or two so switched to washing with that old standby “Noxema”. You remember it I’m sure. If you do, I’ll bet you remember that fresh, sterile smell, that silky white cream and that squeaky clean tight skin on your face. That was all good and well but the drying affects were incredible. Not only did I not get acne, I could not smile easily because my skin was tight almost all day. Not really what I would call healthy.

After a few years of that mistreatment, my Mom introduced me to an array of “beauty products” usually from direct sellers who were friends of hers. (I won’t mention any names here because most of the products were pretty good but some were almost as damaging as the soap and water routine) I used them religiously for the first few weeks after the “facial and demonstration” but then tired of the constant worry about my skin and just lived the life of a rebellious teen-twenties in the golden age of the 1960’s and ’70’s.

I got married, lived a life of self-indulgence and at 32 had a child. All this time, I tried lots of lotions and potions, pills, and “natural” remedies, as these were the days of woman’s rights and making our family life wholesome. I even ventured out and sold some of these “beauty treatments” to my friends and neighbors, all the while using them sporadically myself. I was never a real girl’s girl so doing hair and makeup and skin stuff was not high on my priority list but I was always clean and great looking, just not diligent.

The years passed, we raised a great son, lived some more life of self indulgence and time simply slipped away. Birthday after birthday came and went and my marker points were celebrated with new cars or jewelry or some bauble that was important to me at the time. Then all of a sudden, one day I was 58 years old. I didn’t feel 58. The late fifties ! That was really old. Couldn’t be me, then I took a good look in the mirror.

Where did those wrinkles above my lips come from? And when did they appear? And those deep lines at the corners of my eyes that used to just be a part of my sparkling smile? When did they become canyons? And what color was that skin anyway? It was a dusky grayish flesh color. What happened to that vibrant, soft natural blush I always had? WOW, what an awakening I had. All those years of not taking care of my skin had done their dirty work and now I looked old.

That’s when I became proactive, started seeking out solutions and found Dermology. Within three weeks, I noticed a difference. You can get all the scientific info at the company website. I will just tell you very simply, Dermology WORKS. You can now get a one-month FREE supply just to try it. Go to my website listed below, fill out the form, pay shipping and handling and then give it a go. You have nothing to lose but your tired, wrinkled skin.

One more thing before I go. Women, you have to get your man to try this too. I know, that many of them are too macho to think that they need a skin treatment. You know that they think a quick shave and splash of aftershave and they are good to go. But get him to try it. I had to twist an arm for a long time but he finally tried it and it worked more quickly on him than me. Go figure! Just give it a try.

PS. He doesn’t have to tell anyone how he got rid of those wrinkles when they ask. Just tell him to say, “What wrinkles?”

Baby Boomer Self Centeredness Brings Unexpected Benefits

Tuesday, November 30th, 2010

What problems do you expect with aging? We grew up thinking that old was 60. At that age you had more pain, less agility, and were at the end of your life. But fortunately that is no longer true. We no longer are cursed to live a poor quality of life just because we are older. Now at 60 everyone is looking acting and behaving as the previous generation did at 40. And each year there are more medical developments to increase the quality of life for those getting older.

Ironic to think that this is the positive influence of the Baby Boomer generation. They have changed everything as they moved through their lives and now they are redefining how we live as we get older. The marketers and businesspeople are focusing a lot of research and development money to satisfying this generation’s insatiable desire to remain young. It is the perfect storm where purchasing power meets market capitalism. Add to that the sheer size of the demographic and we can look forward to a multitude of innovations geared toward the older population. The Baby Boomer’s focus on self is changing society.

Maybe that is not fair. They are not really in love with themselves. Though I have yet to see a generation that talks so fondly, and so often about their own greatness. The fact is, that the Baby Boomer generation is very vocal about the fact that they are not willing to age gracefully. Fortunately for them, we live in a market economy so when the largest demographic with the most money speaks. The market listens.

With this research we are seeing innovations that were previously not even considered. The anti aging research teams throughout the world are all working overtime. The research covers a vast array of fields. Including drug remedies, natural health remedies, as well as physical remedies. The drug remedies address every issue from menopause through sexual dysfunction. The natural health remedies are focused on anti aging and quality of life. While the physical remedies encompass everything from prosthesis to yoga and fitness.

This is actually a wonderful addition to society and will serve future generations very well. It is Generation X that will reap the first benefits. The Baby Boomer’s will refine the fight against aging. By the time the last Boomer’s give up the fight, the techniques methods and miracle cures will all be tried and tested. It will be Generation X that will get to simply pick and choose what worked.

So three cheers for the Baby Boomer’s! Thank goodness for their desire to stay young. The money they are spending will improve the quality of life for everyone for years to come. From incontinence through sexual dysfunction the Boomer’s are finding cures. This is really the best conclusion to a generation that tore apart the society to fit their needs. Thank goodness, the Boomer’s have redeemed themselves.

Janet Valley writes on numerous health issues. One example is her site onStress Incontinence. A debilitating issue that has seen remarkable innovations, in thanks to the Baby Boomer generation.

Is Your Chiropractor a Mechanic?

Saturday, September 4th, 2010

Gravity is a constant force on the body if we like it or not. Every day that you get out of bed, the pull of gravity is acting as a stressor on your body. It pulls on the joints, the ligaments, the muscles, tendons, organs…every part of your body. As we get a little older this stress starts to take its toll on the body, especially the joints. One name that we put on the consequences of this stress is arthritis.

Proper alignment and mobility in the joints of the body is vitally important to weak muscle and joints. If any of the bones or joints are not in proper alignment or are not moving well this can create pain (such as low back pain or even headaches), stiffness, weakness, and instability. It is especially important to the aging body to maintain proper joint function.

If you are getting into your later years and are starting to feel the effects of gravity acting on you, its probably time to see a Bellevue chiropractor. A Bellevue chiropractor looks at all the effects of a disfunctional spines and takes away the negative effects that it can have on you.

One way that we can look at how this whole gravity thing works is to look at our bodies like a car. If the front end alignment of my car starts to go “off”, my car starts to pull to one side, it wears down my tires faster, and is very hard on the frame of my car. The same is true of your body in that if there is misalignment in the frame of your body (the spine) then it will wear you down much, much faster. Take a look at the bottoms of your shoes for a second. Is there any wear? If so this may be a good sign that you are misaligned and in major need of a realignment.

Did you find wear on the bottom of your shoe? If you did then you are a prime candidate to be evaluated by your Bellevue chiropractor to asses for “misalignment”.

Are you interested in seeing a Bellevue chiropractor? Visit our blog at www.bellevuechiropractorblog.com to find out how to schedule a consultation.

The Active Baby Boomer Generation – Why Their Retirement Will Be Different From Any Before

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

Baby boomers are becoming the aging baby boomer generation – why their retirement will be different from any before is for a number of reasons. Boomers do not look at retirement the same way as the generations before them. This is becoming very noticeable in the trends of how they are planning, or in some cases not planning, for their retirement years.

In the past the normal course of treatment would be to halt risky investments at a certain age. This decision making would be based on the lack of time to regain any losses due to the age of the investor. This is no longer the case with the baby boomers. Many of them continue to invest with risk and play the market.

However, boomers are not always choosing the safe route in their portfolio but rather keeping their high risk investments. Many are not concerned with the risk or are aware but choose to ride the faster and more exciting train of risky investing. Each has their reasons but it seems to be a trend among this age group.

What we do know is that people are tending not to retire as early as they did in the past. Sure there are some people who wish to retire at fifty and enjoy life and they do. But others are going strong and advancing well into their sixty fifth year of life. This is new and they just enjoy working and that is why they do not stop.

Many boomers have not planned well. They have lived on the edge and enjoyed life and have not saved. Because of this they really do not have a retirement plan. This can be scary for someone who wakes up to find they do not have a lot of years left to actually save a substantial amount of money so they can retire if they choose to.

Yes, the baby boomer generation has reached a new mark. The world is waiting to see how they complete their life cycle and how they finish the race. They will do it their own way like they have for years and we will see the outcome of their choices when it comes to retirement.

Get more information and details on baby boomers trends and strategies for success today! When you are part of the baby boomer generation, it is important to start planning for your future now!

Fear Of The Inevitable – How Do We Accept It

Friday, July 2nd, 2010

One of the most unpleasant topics and subjects once can think about most likely is the topic on death. It is not a particularly popular subject and when we talk about it we tend to take it with a grain of salt. Should the topic come up we try to avoid it or skirt our way around it. The cold hard fact though is that it happens to everyone and we have to deal with it sooner or later. Therefore fear of death – how people deal with it should be discussed.

There are quite a few ways in how people handle the subject matter in their lives. Some just ignore it all through their existence and some do reckless activities to get their minds off the subject or topic. However, the subject will forever remain as a cold hard fact that it will never go away.

Since it is such a scary and unpleasant subject, most of us deal with it only when it happens to us when somebody dies or when we ourselves are close to dying. We are mostly unprepared for the subject or the situation. And sometimes we prepare for death too late.

Since people do not like thinking about it, they are the least prepared for it mentally or even spiritually. There are many ways to make this preparation so that when it comes it does not come as a depressing and heavy shock. There are a quite few ways in preparing for death.

Religion is one way of dealing with the inevitable. The promise of our all loving Creator and God who promises us a reward once we finish our tour of duty on earth is a very consoling thought indeed. Thus if you notice in places of worship that those in places of worship tend to be older in this regard as they are coming to that age when they will finally depart our earthly abode.

One good way to deal with death is by not minding it but making the most use of our life here on earth through service and an attitude of helpfulness. A lot of people do a lot of extra work helping people, not necessarily in a charity, but in their everyday lives making sure that they make life a joy for others not only for themselves, since they know that their time on earth is limited and will depart very soon.

Many people have a fear of death and a fear of aging, if you are one of them you will need to know how to get over it if you are going to lead a happy life.
