People who have this condition are afraid of eating. They fear the idea of getting fat. They will do all that they can to lose weight. We are not just talking about a pound or two. Who is most likely to show signs of this eating disorder? Mostly young women are said to be the most likely to show signs of having this disorder. The typical age range is anywhere between thirteen years of age and twenty years of age. This is because they are most vulnerable as their body is changing all the time.

There are a number of causes that can be attributed to why women have this disorder. Many will say it is because women are forced to believe that they have to look like this and that. They do not know about inner beauty. Some do it for the control they have. Others do it because they are told they look ugly and are seeking the approval of people they look up to. There are biological, psychological, and genetic reasons that many women experience as to why they do this.

The one and only treatment is normally a rehab center. They work with women to ensure they eat. They give them both group and individual counseling. They teach women that you can be in control, without getting too out of control. When this is not taken care women are left to feel weak. They interrupt their menstrual cycle and start passing out. It can get real serious and can blind side women so that they do not see what they are doing to themselves.

If you know of someone, then you need to talk them into therapy before something drastic happens. They start to become dizzy. They are malnutritional. They could eventually die if they do not get help. Do not stand back and watch as this happens.
